The Hamburg port captain has disappeared without a trace and the entire workforce is at a loss as to what could have happened to him.... Can you shed any light on the captain's disappearance? The boardroom gives you one hour to deliver results and locate the captain. This is our escape room classic. This escape room game is ideal for first-time players and families with children. But even experienced players get their money's worth here, because nobody has managed to get through this room without hints.

AI Overview

AIFrequently praised are the coherent set design and the many details. The Gamemaster seems very attentive, hints arrive at the right time. The puzzles are more family-friendly and therefore easier, while there are also some red herrings. Some mechanisms felt a bit unclear or briefly clunky.
WeaknessesSeveral guests complain about the amount of red herrings, which can slow the flow. Enthusiasts find parts of the tasks too basic; one element felt technically unclear.
StrengthsAtmosphere and story mesh well, including small show moments that stick. The interactions are fun and the harbor angle feels authentic.
SecurityThere is a briefing beforehand; the GM reliably accompanies with hints. The setting is unthreatening and relaxed.
Level of fearNot scary, more adventurous—doable with children. Small spooky effects are tongue-in-cheek and harmless.
Actors' gameThe Gamemaster, named Ellen, connects well with the group and guides them safely through the story. Hints are clear and well timed, the hosting feels warm.
Quality of riddlesFair and logical, overall more beginner level with decent variety. Pros want more depth but are kept busy by feints and interactions. Occasionally a mechanism isn’t immediately clear.
PlotYou investigate the harbor captain’s disappearance in the conference room and have 60 minutes. A small sabotage twist spices up the investigation without giving too much away.
Difficulty levelEasy to moderate, perfect for beginners, families, and small groups. Experienced teams can manage it well as a duo; completely without hints it’s still tricky due to the feints.

I played the room with a colleague; we’re both game masters. For families with children it’s great, and the set fits the story well. The puzzles are fairly easy but fun. Our GM Ellen was friendly, drew us into the story well, and timed the hints perfectly. Not my favorite at EscapeDiem, but a really fun room.

Very cool room with a small bridge leading over to the boat. One mechanism felt unclear to us or didn’t respond as expected, and there are really a lot of red herrings. The culprit’s quirky gold collection was delightful, and the ghostly hand was a nice extra. The story with the police chief who wants us to fail was fun.

Very cohesive harbor ambience; the bridge over to the boat is a real eye-catcher. One or two red herrings were a bit much for me, but the ghostly hand had us thoroughly amused. Overall, a brisk flow and a well-rounded story.

I like all Escapediem rooms, but this one is the weakest for me because it targets families rather than hardcore fans. The puzzles are, in my opinion, a bit too easy and overall quite basic. Still, strong design, we had fun, and it’s definitely worth a try.

On the simpler side for enthusiasts and with too many distractions. Still, I liked the throughline and the setting. Decent, but not a must-play for pros.
