You can feel the love for detail the moment you walk in. A complex, exciting story where dream and reality blur. Varied, partly physical puzzles, a dynamic environment, and 120 minutes that never feel long. The horror is palpable but moderate for some, about 5/10 — it’s the atmosphere that does it. An intense experience far beyond a standard escape room.

We were a group of four and not hardcore puzzlers, more just curious about the concept. Arrival feels like a futuristic shop for dreams; the Dreampod transitions brilliantly into the pirate world. Incredible what’s been built here: an authentic intro, then immersion like no other. The set is meticulously detailed, the puzzles are coherent and cleanly themed, and the story grabs you right away. Acting and hosting are on point and very warm.

First game of the day; a slightly hectic start until the groups were sorted. After that, Dream Labs’ distinctive narrative rhythm kicked in, and the scenery blew us away, including a story moment that topped everything. Second room of the day, and once again Dream Labs delivers from start to finish. The immersion is intense; from lighting to sound, everything feels straight out of Blade Runner. The puzzles slot in seamlessly, on the easier side, which suits the story-first philosophy. 90 minutes; we got out 12 minutes early. Clear recommendation for everyone.

Strong start and great setting, but we felt too guided and were steered along too quickly during the game. After just a few attempts the solution would often appear, leaving little time to puzzle things out; some Easter eggs were only in German. In the end it felt more like a guided theme park experience with few puzzles, whereas Metropolis appealed to us much more.

Unique setting with incredible attention to detail; from the intro to the debrief, it’s all of a piece. The tasks drive the story forward and fit the theme perfectly. Hardly any classic logic puzzles—more searching, finding, and placing. The ending felt a touch tamer than the rest—nitpicking at a high level.

After The Pirate, Metropolis visibly ups the ante again. Breathtaking set design, insane effects, and over 70 computers in use. No teething troubles—things were flowing smoothly already in week one. For us, it’s Champions League and possibly the best in Germany.

It’s rarely this good: the theme and story are the best I’ve seen so far, and I’ve seen a lot. The sets are consistently cinema-quality, with morally engaging shades of gray. I liked the pirate room a touch more, but if you’re in Bad Steben, it’s best to do both.
