About the escape room

Redefining Human

AIMost praise the cinema-grade set design, the light and soundscape, and a story that’s more experienced than told. The puzzles are neatly embedded in the world, generally on the easier side and often search-and-use, keeping the flow smooth. A few mention brief slowdowns, a small bug at the start, and occasionally abruptly starting audio sequences. Multiple comparisons with The Heartless Pirate: sometimes the pirate wins, sometimes Metropolis—both are considered must-play.
WeaknessesFor enthusiasts, puzzles can feel too easy or search-heavy; some wished for more tasks. Isolated start bug and abruptly starting audio, which could cause missed info. A few found the ending a bit tame compared to the intense buildup.
StrengthsCinematic sets with loving details, strong transitions, and a dream-pod intro that sets the bar. Dark, morally gray cyberpunk atmosphere with genuine goosebump moments.
SecurityGood briefing and a solid sense of safety; perceived danger is adjustable. Restrooms are on site; any technical hiccups were caught immediately by the team.
Level of fearNo horror—more tension and adrenaline. Suitable for teens; a 15-year-old reportedly had a great time.
Actors' gameThe game masters are praised as present and strong performers—by name Martin, Lasse, and Yannik. Hints blend organically into the narrative, including a fitting debrief.
Quality of riddlesCoherent, logical, and thematically integrated, but clearly geared toward searching, finding, and using. Classic combination chains are rare; the focus is squarely on immersion. A single early bug was handled quickly and confidently.
PlotIn a corrupt megacity you chase the truth behind the disappearance of the singer Mula as good and evil blur. The story drives you forward noticeably and stays intense without cheap shock effects.
Difficulty levelAccessible for beginners and mixed teams; experts will breeze through and should savor the moment. 90-minute runtime at a high pace, yet mostly smooth progression.

Second room of the day, and once again Dream Labs delivers from start to finish. The immersion is intense; from lighting to sound, everything feels straight out of Blade Runner. The puzzles slot in seamlessly, on the easier side, which suits the story-first philosophy. 90 minutes; we got out 12 minutes early. Clear recommendation for everyone.

Unique setting with incredible attention to detail; from the intro to the debrief, it’s all of a piece. The tasks drive the story forward and fit the theme perfectly. Hardly any classic logic puzzles—more searching, finding, and placing. The ending felt a touch tamer than the rest—nitpicking at a high level.

After The Pirate, Metropolis visibly ups the ante again. Breathtaking set design, insane effects, and over 70 computers in use. No teething troubles—things were flowing smoothly already in week one. For us, it’s Champions League and possibly the best in Germany.

It’s rarely this good: the theme and story are the best I’ve seen so far, and I’ve seen a lot. The sets are consistently cinema-quality, with morally engaging shades of gray. I liked the pirate room a touch more, but if you’re in Bad Steben, it’s best to do both.

Like being thrown into a sci-fi movie: cinema-quality sets, jaw-dropping transitions, and a Dreampod intro you won’t forget. The audio is crystal clear, though one starting puzzle briefly glitched and was fixed right away. Puzzles are mostly easy and at times a bit tedious, but the flow is excellent. The ending rounds it off elegantly.

The theme really drew me in, but what blew me away most was the opening — I’ve rarely experienced anything so immersive. The flow isn’t quite as smooth as in the pirate one, maybe that was just fatigue. Tech and set are flawless, the GMs are top-notch. For me, one of the best games ever.

Really enjoyed it: beautiful decor and several genuine wow moments. Sometimes important audio started rather abruptly and we missed snippets. We would have liked more puzzles and to linger longer in some rooms. Still, a clear recommendation.

Cinematic to the max. The opening with the Dreampod totally blew me away, and after that it was one film-like set change after another. Puzzles are easy but perfectly integrated. An absolute must if you love immersion.

After the pirate dream, we headed back into the future—and I found it even more impressive. Flawless set design; the puzzles were a bit more demanding this time. Futuristic stuff isn’t really my thing, but the quality is undeniable. 100 percent recommendation.

Unassuming from the outside, pure cinema on the inside. The entry into the dream world, the tour through Metropolis, and the gentle awakening were seamless. Gamemaster Lasse kept us immersed in the story throughout, and the debrief cleared up any unanswered questions. We’ll be back.

As a family with a teen, we were completely immersed in the world. Not scary, but intense and exciting, with plenty of wow moments in the transitions. We would have liked a few more puzzles, but the experience was fantastic.

Top-notch design, and the fact that you can adjust difficulty and “danger” is a clever touch. Our GM Martin ran a great game; we could almost feel the dream physically. Don’t rush—the story is complex and beautifully interwoven. Must-play.

Our GM Martin performed so well that we almost fell for the gaslighting moment. Please don't rush—it's worth taking the time to take in the details here. Small note: an audio sequence started abruptly, but it was quickly brought back under control. Overall, brilliant.

Amazing atmosphere—neon and sound all on point—but for me there were too many fetch quests and not enough puzzling. If you put story ahead of puzzles, you’ll love it. I still thought it was great, just not "perfect".

Pirate room was already great, but Metropolis captured the “escape” feeling even more for me. The transitions are extremely good and the finale really delivers. The trip was absolutely worth it.
