The puzzle was created by Anton Schäfer, a soldier in World War I. Anton was so shaken by the cruelty and senselessness of the war that he decided to pass his legacy only to those who shared his values and vision. He devised a puzzle that would send potential heirs on a journey through the history, culture, and secrets of Munich. Only those who could solve the puzzle were deemed worthy of the Salt Diamond. His descendants carried on the tradition, adding their own marks and challenges to the puzzle. Now it is Josef Schäfer’s turn. On his 18th birthday he receives a letter from his father that opens the door to the family inheritance. Josef knows he still must prove himself to show his worth. He sets out to solve the riddles left for him, learning more about his family, his origins, and his destiny along the way.
