Professor Kevin Klein, a distant relative of the former mayor of Köpenick, Georg Langerhans, suffers under his family's disgrace. Disguised as the Captain of Köpenick, the unemployed shoemaker Wilhelm Voigt once arrested Klein’s ancestor. Instead of being imprisoned for life, Voigt was pardoned by the Emperor and the Langerhans family became the laughingstock of the country. Kevin wants to erase this stain from the family history. As a mad inventor he actually managed to travel to the past. He overpowers Wilhelm Voigt before he can carry out his coup.
