About the escape room

An old antique shop in Witten may have been the scene of terrible events. It was once run by a peculiar and mysterious owner: a man with an aura of darkness, who always seemed to carry a shadow over him.

Myths about missing persons and strange, inexplicable deaths are still silently associated with the "KURIOSUM" to this day. Although the shop has been closed for decades and the owner has vanished, people who wanted to get to the bottom of the myth continue to disappear... without a trace! A great fairy tale? Or does the answer truly lurk in the darkness?

AI Overview

AIMost praise the immersion, set design, and 360° staging including light, sound, and smells. Puzzles are on the easier side and mainly serve the narrative; some find it “on rails.” The story and pre-game onboarding emails polarize: moody for some, confusing or too vague by the end for others. Dirt and dust are deliberate, the game master is passionate, hints are elegantly woven into the world, and there’s no time pressure.
WeaknessesSome players find the plot hard to grasp; the pre-game emails can be overwhelming. Puzzle density is rather low, at times it feels like guided progression with limited interaction. Very dusty and dirty; an ill-fitting dexterity element is occasionally criticized.
StrengthsSpectacular backdrop with a cinematic atmosphere that carries you from the doorbell to the finale. Attention to detail, clever effects, cohesive hint-and-acting setup—and you experience the full story instead of chasing a clock.
SecurityTight passages, darkness, and some crawling—wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and follow the instructions. There are occasional reports that you can’t use the restroom right before the start; plan for that.
Level of fearSpooky rather than horror: dark corners, loud effects, and tension, but very manageable. Fine with older kids if they can handle spookiness.
Actors' gameThe game master is often praised for timing, presence, and the post-game chat; some introductions are theatrically delivered. Hints and interactions fit organically into the world and don’t break immersion.
Quality of riddlesLogical and fair, primarily story-driven; there’s variety, but rarely truly tricky. Well embedded in the theme, yet high-aspiration puzzle hunters may feel underchallenged. Some were bothered by a dexterity section that breaks the flow.
PlotMyths around a locked curiosity shop and a dark artifact pull you into a twisty story. Some found the explanations and ending a bit nebulous; others love exactly that sense of mystery.
Difficulty levelOverall easy to medium, ideal for story fans, mixed groups, and newcomers. Hardcore puzzlers expecting lots of tough challenges won’t be at home here.

This isn’t a run-of-the-mill room, but high-tech storytelling with a seamless transition from outside to inside. No time pressure, almost two hours of experience, tons of details, and a movie-like set, including lighting/sound and even scents. The puzzles are clever but never hard; the diegetic hint system fits perfectly. Definitely follow the clothing advice—it gets dusty and a bit acrobatic.

Hidden gem and, in my view, underrated on TERPECA. The best set dressing and the most attention to detail I’ve ever seen, with a well-balanced mix of group and solo puzzles. Sound and lighting actively tell the story, the in-game hint system is on point, and a live-acted intro pulls you right in. For me, a crystal-clear 10/10.

We’ve played many rooms already, but this one completely pulled us in. The atmosphere, setting, and details are so cohesive that you forget you’re in a game. The puzzles are varied, fair, and challenging enough, and the game master was top-notch — for us, a clear 12/10 moment.

Playful intro, then a set like from another world — lighting, sound, props, everything spot on. The puzzles carry the story well without ever being unfair, and the scare factor remains pleasantly light. An absolute recommendation; I even treated myself to a T-shirt as a keepsake.

The dramaturgy is spot on here: the adventure begins already with the booking, the welcome gives you goosebumps, and the puzzle pieces come together into a clear throughline. You automatically work together; at times it gets cramped and dirty—perfectly fitting the story. Brilliantly done.

From the very first moment, extremely immersive: great intro, impressive set design, lighting, sound, and even smells. Wonderful storytelling with lots of little references. You’ll get dirty, do some crawling, and it’s occasionally dark—more spooky than horror.

This felt more like an immersive experience to me than a classic escape room. The set and atmosphere are great, but the puzzles were straightforward and sometimes boring, and the story felt confusing in parts. The game master did an amazing job and the debrief was great. Tip: Don't wear your best clothes; it's really dusty.

I was nervous after the email with the 'you'll get dirty' note, but in fact the dirt is used cleverly to guide you. Still, the game later breaks that logic multiple times. The set is breathtaking, the effects and lighting are great, but the story didn't really grab us and the emails before/after the game were too much. Annoying: No restroom before the start, even though there is one in the buildin

Very cinematic, with a strong cold open that sets the tone right away, and a clever finale that ties everything together. The puzzles are sensible, but serve more as door-openers than as the focus. A lot of it isn't hands-on, which makes it feel quite 'on rails'. The atmosphere and story didn't resonate with me personally, but could well captivate others.

Strong set, but the story was hard for us to follow. The mysterious emails beforehand were more confusing than helpful, and a random dexterity segment in the middle of the game completely broke the flow. A few puzzles were good; most were just okay. Despite all that, the visuals were top-notch, and I might check out a possible sequel.

Incredible set and smart effects, but at times it feels very guided. Lots of dust, so wear old clothes. Great for immersion fans, but just 'okay' for puzzle hunters.

Scenery and atmosphere are next level, no question. The puzzles were too thin for me, and a dexterity section killed the flow. For the experience, 10/10; for the puzzling, 5/10—overall it’s solid fun.

The involvement of the game master was superb, in character from the very first moment. Hints are delivered so elegantly that they make the story even better. We were completely immersed and lost track of time.

The emails beforehand mostly left me confused, and in the game itself the story was sometimes a bit nebulous. But the effects, lighting, and sound make up for it, and the ending hits hard. Overall strong, with a few question marks.

A visual stunner! It grabs you right from the start, and you completely forget there’s a world outside. No time pressure, great scents and sounds, and a finale that sticks the landing. Highly recommended.
